Cayt Mirra was born in Melbourne, Australia. She graduated from Deakin University in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Professional Writing. She then went on to study a Graduate Diploma of Secondary Education at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. She is currently completing a Masters of Clinical Teaching at the University of Melbourne and teaches English and Literature in Melbourne's outer-east.

Cayt knew she wanted to be a writer since the age of nine, when she began writing her first novel, The History of the Unicorns. The first draft was not great and remains unfinished, but it was the beginning of a long love affair with the written word.

Cayt works as a content writer, editor and proofreader. See her professional services page for more information.

Cayt's debut novel, The Blood Apothecary, was released in 2015.

She is also the Creative Director of Femagogy Zine, a quarterly publication for teachers and feminists.

When not writing or teaching, Cayt watches horror movies with her husband Marty, reads fantasy novels and YA speculative fiction, and hangs out with her son Max, daughter Clementine, and her small menagerie of cats and dogs.
